Update on prayer Request

For those of you whom have been praying for this homeschool family. Here is an update.

It's time for another update on Mariyana….All the good news included in this one is testament to all of your wonderful support and prayers. We really couldn't be doing this without you and without Him – we have been filled with a real peace and strength for these trying times, and that is indeed an answer to prayer! We moved down to room 125 last night from ICU – so that alone is huge! How far we've come in just a few short days – from a moment's notice away of being flown out, to now in a regular room! And, the doctors are talking about possibly heading home on Thursday (tomorrow!). Mariyana is sleeping now, but she did take a shower completely on her own (standing the entire time) this morning. It really wore her out, but that is completely understandable too.Yesterday was the first day of physical therapists, speech therapists and occupational therapists. Mariyana initially refused to participate and would just whine, turn away, and pretend she was asleep. I was able to get the word out quickly to a few people about her attitude, and in the afternoon, she was a different kid! She actually did participate and try. Just this morning we had a good talk about her being scared and frustrated, and how she needs to channel those feelings into "fighting" to get back and working hard. So, specific prayer requests – *Mariyana would have that "fight" in her to work through her lingering neurological symptoms. That she wouldn't give up because it's "too hard" which, unfortunately, is her tendency. That she'd respond to all the different therapies with a desire to improve and cooperate.*That we could figure out therapy schedules for her once we are home, that fit our family's schedules, especially with most (all?) therapists an hour away from our home.*For her and my relationship. My prayer was that our relationship would be further developed and strengthened through this whole thing, and I'm not sure that is happening. I've gotten a lot of strife from her over the previous days which is frustrating and heartbreaking. Mariyana is one of our adopted daughters, and has only been with us for 3 ½ years, so that isn't very long to build a deep, strong bond. *For me – yes, kind of selfish…but pretty necessary! As some of you may know, I have MS (multiple sclerosis). It usually isn't too bad, but when I am in situations where there is lots of stress, and minimal sleep, my symptoms start flaring up. I am exhausted, my vision is getting goofy, and my left side is weak, painful and "heavy". So, I need to be healthy and strong, not only for Mariyana, but also for the rest of the family right now. On the upside, however, I have been able to share with Mariyana that I really DO UNDERSTAND her neurological symptoms and frustrations as ADEM (which she has/had) is almost like a one-time MS exacerbation.*Finally, for long-term healing. The doctors have given us an estimate of how long it will take her to get back to "normal" – it is "a couple weeks to a year", with the ever present possibility that she won't ever fully recover. That is quite scary, of course, to all of us. Mariyana loves running, playing volleyball, riding her bike. She has beautiful penmanship and is a great artist. And, like any teenager, she likes to talk. All of those things are pretty compromised right now. We are of course praying for a complete recovery, in a short amount of time!I think that's about it for now. We can't even begin to express what a joy you have been to all of us with your support. Thank you!Love, The Marble Family

Nothen much goin on today

Well got no big news... nothen to tell.. or I should say nothen I want to tell.. lol.. Now that I know there are *people* watching whom I do not know of.. I am more careful of ANNOUNCEMENTS I guess you could say...lol.. anyhow.. so today is Tuesday got lots to do.. Steve is still sick fighting this bad stuff... Here read this article from a mom in a home school group I belong to.. It is a prayer request.....
..................................................................................................................................
We really need your prayers right now for our oldest daughter,Mariyana, who is 15. Prayers for miraculous healing and recovery. Iam writing to you from the Intensive Care Unit of our local hospital. Here's a recap of what's going on.*We had a nasty flu/cold going through the house over the past week. All the kids (except Kia) got varying degrees of it, but generallywere back on their feet in just a few days (except Josiah who got yetanother double ear infection and upper respiratory infection).Anyways, Mariyana got the same thing - cough, sore throat, headache, achiness.*We brought her to the doctor on Wednesday and she checked out fine.Thursday she was starting to feel better and be back up and around. However, she still complained on dizziness and a headache.*Friday, however, Mariyana started slurring her words, walkingunsteadily. Her ability to do simple tasks like eating and writingwere markedly reduced. So, we brought her into the doctor thatafternoon.*Since then, she's been admitted to the ICU at our hospital. They'vedone a spinal tap, MRI, CT-Scan, blood tests and more. Her symptomshave gotten worse and she now also has double vision, and experiencedat least one seizure.*So far we know she has some viral infection in her spinal fluid(meningitis or encephalitis) , a spot on her brain (possibledemyelization) and her seizures. She is on antibiotics, anti-viral,a second anti-viral, seizure medication and MS medication tocounteract the demyelization.*Numerous tests have been sent off around the country for differentcultures or screening panels. Most of those will take 3-5 days tocome back. Additional MRIs and EEGs have also been ordered.*If her situation worsens, they will likely fly her out to aspecialized pediatric hospital (not sure where). In the meantime, weare in the ICU, and will be here multiple days. There isn't a lotthat we can do now except pray and wait. Mariyana is pretty knockedout, and mostly resting. She can't hardly walk or talk, has doublevision, and even basic skills like eating are a challenge.*Long-term prognosis? We're not sure at this point. I'm of coursetied up here at the hospital, and John is doing the best he can withthe rest of the kids. Of course being about 75 minutes from thehospital makes things even more challenging at this point. So, please be praying for our dear daughter. It is awful to see herlike this, and we are just praying for a full, complete recovery in amiraculously short time. You can reach me on email, or by callingBozeman Deaconess ICU. Thank you so much for holding all of us up inprayer
!KristenMom to 8 Blessings

So this stuff is nasty that is going around.. some people seem to be getting it and just passing it off OK others like this dear family are seeing the worse of it and others are just miserable with it.. so keep all in your prayers if you think about it... Someone said to me last week" you guys seem to always be sick" ya know that doesn't make a person feel to good.. lol and last I checked being sick was not done on purpose..lol.. so until we are past the "voodoo " stage I will stay away from everyone and in our Lil abode until all the "germs" are gone..lol.. Anyhow.. Hope everyone has a great week...

Well just a lil update on US... We are delaying our "MOVE" Untill further notice due to some umm how shall we say circumstances beyond our control at this time.. SO yes we are STILL moving but do not know WHEN as of now.. Just keep us in your prayers.. And ya know I am OK with this.. Not upset or "freaked" out... and actually yes I am a lil surprised at that fact.. Guess that goes to show ya what the GRACE OF GOD can do in a persons life... SO I am thankful for HIS hand in this because I know we will come out the BETTER because of it. :)
